Does converting MOV to MP4 lose quality?

Converting MOV to MP4 re-encodes the video, so technically a little detail is lost. At sensible settings you won't notice it on a phone, laptop or TV.

The resolution and frame rate stay the same. What usually changes is the file size, often for the better, and the fact that the MP4 now plays almost anywhere.
